San Luis Valley Straight Rye image
Laws Whiskey House San Luis Valley Straight Rye
Double Gold at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. 7,500 feet above sea level, in Colorado’s San Luis Valley, the Cody family has been cultivating this low yield, semi-wild rye grain since the 1930s. We fell in love with how it ferments and distills into a terroir-driven, unapologetic whiskey.

It features mellow, sweet notes of maple and candy corn, with a spicy finish, all derived from its unique mash bill of organic rye grain. The whiskey is aged in new, charred American oak barrels and is bottled from single barrels, resulting in a unique character for each bottle.

Note: A very small quantity of whiskies came from this single barrel, so taste variability is higher than with larger production whiskies. Many times this is not a big deal (i.e. Blanton's), but sometimes it matters (i.e. Larceny Barrel Proof versions). If the specific barrel is not listed, ask your server or a store employee for more info.

Palate: On the palate, it's full-bodied, with a strong rye spice, dried fruit, caramel, and subtle sweetness.
Finish: The finish is characterized by a distinctive peppery note, oak, and vanilla, with a lingering warmth.
