Grain to Glass Rye image
Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Rye
Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Rye is a non-chill filtered, barrel-proof whiskey (around 123.2 proof, 63% rye, 24% corn, 13% malted barley) with a bold, spicy, and complex flavor profile. Expect notes of toasted oak, almonds, orange marmalade, chocolate, nutmeg, white pepper, and honey on the nose and palate, with a long, warm finish of crème brûlée, charred oak, and orange oil. This expression emphasizes transparency in its process, detailing the local corn varietal used and providing an authentic connection from seed to bottle.

Tasting Notes
Nose: The aroma offers a complex mix of brown sugar, maple, and rich caramel sweetness, complemented by herbal notes of mint, dill, and green tea, with layers of toasted oak and baking spices like cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg.
Palate: On the palate, a bold and spicy rye grain flavor is balanced by sweet, rich butterscotch, caramel, and dark brown sugar, with additional notes of orange zest, cinnamon, and subtle fruit.
Finish: The long, peppery finish delivers lasting rye spice, dry oak, and warmth, while fading hints of toasted oak, caramel, and tobacco linger.
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Proof
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof is a high-proof Tennessee whiskey bottled straight from the barrel, resulting in a bold and intense flavor experience. It features the classic Jack Daniel's notes of vanilla and toasted oak, intensified by the higher proof, and is complemented by sweet brown sugar and hints of dark spice. The whiskey is bottled at its full barrel proof, ranging from 125 to 140 proof, and offers a smooth, aromatic experience.

Note: A very small quantity of whiskies came from this single barrel, so taste variability is higher than with larger production whiskies. Many times this is not a big deal (i.e. Blanton's), but sometimes it matters (i.e. Larceny Barrel Proof versions). If the specific barrel is not listed, ask your server or a store employee for more info.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Sweet brown sugar, toasted oak, and hints of dark spice, with some variations including banana, vanilla wafer, and even marshmallow notes.
Palate: Viscous mouthfeel with sweet banana nut bread, caramel, and a noticeable warmth from the high proof, balanced by a touch of cherry and oak.
Finish: Lingering banana and oak, with the sweetness giving way to a more pronounced oak and spice, sometimes described as burnt or charred.
