Kaiyo Whisky Mizunara Oak Cask Strength
Kaiyo Whisky Mizunara Oak Cask Strength is a Japanese whisky known for its unique aging process in handmade Mizunara oak casks and a subsequent 3-month maturation at sea. This results in a complex flavor profile with notes of sandalwood, coconut, and vanilla, alongside hints of citrus and subtle spices. The cask strength version offers a bolder experience with a higher alcohol content.

Note: A very small quantity of whiskies came from this single barrel, so taste variability is higher than with larger production whiskies. Many times this is not a big deal (i.e. Blanton's), but sometimes it matters (i.e. Larceny Barrel Proof versions). If the specific barrel is not listed, ask your server or a store employee for more info.

Tasting Notes
Nose: There is warm caramel overlaying a citrus like lemon peel, with cedar pine, salt, a refreshing note like fresh linens.
Palate: We start with charcoal of the barrel before milk chocolate evolves on the tongue. There is a tangy note on the tongue but the whiskey remains airy and light. The midpalate displays sweet fruit like melon and vanilla. The close is tangy with notes of salted plum.
Finish: There is a light smoke with coffee grounds and white sugar holding across the tongue. It is soft and muted but present.
