E.H. Taylor Amaranth   [AM-uh-ranth]
This bourbon honors Taylor's enduring spirit of innovation and commitment to exceptional whiskey by introducing Amaranth as the flavoring grain. Amaranth was originally cultivated by the Aztecs and is known as the “Grain of the Gods.” This ancient grain is similar to wheat, but offers a complex taste with subtle flavors ranging from a nose of butterscotch and spearmint, to a finish of pecans and dark berries. This distinctive whiskey is the tenth release in the E.H. Taylor, Jr. lineup that includes their Small Batch Bourbon, Single Barrel Bourbon, Barrel Proof Bourbon, and Straight Rye.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Fresh spearmint and honey, meet a subtle hint of cherry.
Palate: Taste coffee and vanilla on the palate.
Finish: A long finish of oak and honey.
E.H. Taylor Barrel Proof
Crafted from hand-selected barrels, this bourbon is bottled directly from the barrel; uncut and unfiltered at more than 125 proof. It reflects the way whiskey was produced in the days before Prohibition, when Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. was the owner of Buffalo Trace Distillery. Drawn from barrels aged in warehouses constructed over a century ago under Taylor's watchful eye, the taste is smooth, yet powerful and uncompromising, just like its namesake.

Note: A very small quantity of whiskies came from this single barrel, so taste variability is higher than with larger production whiskies. Many times this is not a big deal (i.e. Blanton's), but sometimes it matters (i.e. Larceny Barrel Proof versions). If the specific barrel is not listed, ask your server or a store employee for more info.
Tasting Notes
Nose: The aroma of cooked berries meets the nose, followed by a rich caramel and slightly floral smell.
Palate: The taste is bold and full of spice that fills the mouth with a distinct flavor of toasty vanilla, dried oak and pepper.
Finish: The finish is long and satisfying with a powerful rye character and lingering hints of fruit.
