Pact No. 9 image
Blood Oath Pact No. 9
A masterful union of three well-bred ryed bourbons. One, an oaky 16-year-old. Two, a luscious 12-year-old. And three, a 7-year-old finished in Spanish Oloroso Sherry casks which carries the aroma of sweet sherry while satiating the palate with dark fruit, molasses, chocolate and tobacco.

Nose: Sweet sherry notes are prominent. Aromas of ripe fruits like oranges, raisins, prunes, and plums are present. Baking spice, vanilla, and oak notes are also noticeable. Some reviewers mention a hint of sawdust and, with time, bittersweet dark chocolate.
Palate: The palate offers a medium viscosity with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Flavors include mandarin oranges, raisins, prunes, and plums. Spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, vanilla, and oak are also present. Some reviewers note notes of molasses and chocolate.
Finish: The finish is medium-long and dry. It features fruit, baking spice, vanilla, and oak. Bittersweet dark chocolate, bubble gum, and tobacco notes appear in the tail end. Other reviewers mention a lingering finish with notes of black cherry marmalade and oak.
Baker's Single Barrel 13 Year Old
In October 2019, Jim Beam announced Baker's would undergo a packaging redesign and transition to single barrel, exclusively. The standard version would maintain its 107 proof and 7 year age statement. Additionally, a 13 year old version, also single barrel and 107 proof, would be released in limited quantities. This 13 year old version is Baker's first ever limited edition. In addition to the new bottle design, the 13 year old is released with a gift box.

Note: A very small quantity of whiskies came from this single barrel, so taste variability is higher than with larger production whiskies. Many times this is not a big deal (i.e. Blanton's), but sometimes it matters (i.e. Larceny Barrel Proof versions). If the specific barrel is not listed, ask your server or a store employee for more info.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Summer fruit combines with caramel chews, vanilla, and a dash of cinnamon to form the base of aromas. Traces of barrel char and musty funk weave in and out, hinting towards the bourbon's age. Ethanol is present at first, but given adequate time in the glass, dissipates entirely allowing the aromas to come through with more force.
Palate: An immediate pop of rye spice is followed by a rush of raisins, caramel, and summer fruits. Leather, seasoned oak, and barrel char manifest beneath a layer of toasted marshmallow. It's just the right amount of intensity and the sweet-spice-oak balance is on point.
Finish: Allspice and musty oak are countered with a caramel-butterscotch sweetness. The finish becomes a bit dry as it lingers. The spice and sweet flavors serve the bourbon well, keeping the wood flavors in check while nicely showcasing the bourbon's age. Enjoyable overall.
