Cardhu 12 Year Old
You may not have heard of Cardhu, but you've probably tasted it. It's a prime component of nearly all Johnnie Walker blended whisky. Europe, particularly Spain, had quite a taste for the single malt bottling. It was so popular in fact that they changed it to a blended malt to keep up with demand. This did not go over so well and Cardhu righted that wrong back in 2005.

Tasting Notes
Nose: At full strength, heady, nose prickle, pear drops and tightly integrated heather, resin and sweet honey-nut notes. Enticing. Intriguing. With a little water, still harmonious but less pronounced, allowing some malt cereal, soft, spicy wood, moorland and faint traces of wood-smoke to appear.
Palate: Well balanced, smooth mouthfeel; short punch, sweet and fresh, then a pronounced drying effect. Moorish. Enjoyable at any time, with little or no water.
Finish: Lingering sweet smoke in the attractive, drying aftertaste.
Benrinnes 15 Year Old Flora and Fauna
Although it has long been highly prized by blenders - being one of a select few malts rated as 'first class' for blending purposes - Benrinnes was only officially bottled for the first time as a single malt in its own right in 1991, when Diageo forerunners United Distillers released a 15 year old expression as part of the Flora and Fauna series. A 'partially' triple-distilled Speysider, this single malt from the Benrinnes distillery was bottled at 15 years for the Flora and Fauna series.
