Wee Beastie image
Ardbeg Wee Beastie
Ardbeg Wee Beastie is the latest permanent expression to join the Distillery's Ultimate Range. At just five years old, Wee Beastie is a feisty young creature with a formidable taste. Our whisky creators set out to make the rawest, smokiest Ardbeg ever. The result is Ardbeg Wee Beastie and this tongue-tingling, beautifully smoky dram is the youngest Ardbeg we've ever made. On the snout, intense aromas of cracked blacked pepper mingle with sappy pine resin and a sharp tang of smoke. Suddenly, an explosive mouthfeel bursts forth with chocolate, creosote and tar. Savoury meats sink into the palate before the long salty mouthcoating finish slinks away revealing the inner beast of this Islay icon. Young and intensely smoky, this is a dram untamed by age. Matured in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, Wee Beastie is perfect for enjoying neat or as the mouth-watering main ingredient in a powerfully smoky cocktail.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Herbal notes, with hints of vanilla and pear. Rich Turkish coffee mingles with honey-glazed ham lurking in the background. Fennel, scents of aniseed, green apple and leather. A sharp tang of smoke and a crack of fresh black pepper.
Palate: Rich, explosive mouthfeel bursts forth with chocolate and tar. A powerful blast of eucalyptus with antiseptic lozenges and aniseed. Raw, smoky intensity before smoked bacon and savoury meats sink into the palate.
Finish: The long, briny, salty mouthcoating finish retreats, with hints of cocoa and fudge slinking slowly away.
Glengyle (Kilkerran Whiskies) Kilkerran Heavily Peated
Kilkerran is the name that was chosen for the single malt produced at Mitchell's Glengyle Distillery, there are two reasons for this. Firstly, because the name Glengyle is already used for a blended Highland malt and Mitchell's Glengyle Ltd were not able to purchase the rights to use that name. They also wished to avoid any possible confusion between the newest single malt to come from the Campbeltown region and a pre-existing blended Highland malt. Secondly, and more importantly, Mitchell's Glengyle Ltd are very proud to be continuing and adding to the great Campbeltown Distilling tradition and the choice of name reflects that. Kilkerran is derived from the Gaelic 'Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain' which is the name of the original settlement where Saint Kerran had his religious cell and where Campbeltown now stands. Kilkerran is thought to be a suitable name for a new Campbeltown malt since it was unusual for the old Campbeltown distilleries to be called after a Glen, a custom more usually associated with the Speyside region.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Opens up to reveal citrus notes, vanilla cheesecake, rhubarb and custard sweets with delicate peat smoke.
Palate: Freshly baked Bramley apple pie and sweet salted caramel. The peat is prolific yet well integrated. A fresh coastal influence evokes memories of a blustery, busy, sea sprayed harbour.
Finish: Long and creamy. Notes of toasted oak and pencil shavings give way to a lasting sweet, fruity peat smoke.
